MyEcc Pupil Prop

MyEcc Pupil Prop is a specialist eye-control system that lets a user drive a powered wheelchair using only their eye movements — through a lightweight sensor headset worn like a pair of glasses. Unlike systems that rely on a separate communication device, the headset's built-in sensor tracks the eye directly: the user simply looks where they want to go and the chair follows, and closing the eyes stops it immediately.

It was developed for people who can move only their eyes — including those living with conditions such as motor neurone disease (ALS) — giving them independent control of driving, seating and more. No head movement is needed, and features such as nystagmus are no obstacle.

Works outdoors, even in bright sunlight

MyEcc Pupil Prop is the only eye-controlled wheelchair drive system that performs reliably outdoors and in bright sunlight — rain, snow, sun and darkness don't affect it. It comes with phototropic lenses as standard and can be adapted for vision correction by an optician. At a product trial, a specialist selects the right arm length from three available versions and positions the tracking sensor correctly for the user.

Setup and calibration

The system is calibrated using the MyEcc display, which runs the software that converts eye movement into wheelchair commands. Once calibrated, the headset can be used without the display in view, for greater comfort and confidence while driving.

Assessment, trial and support

MyEcc Pupil Prop is supplied following a personal assessment and product trial to confirm suitability, with a trial report available for funding applications. Delivery includes set-up and familiarisation, with ongoing telephone support, readjustment and a full repair service.
