M4 Nexa Jr

The Permobil M4 Nexa Jr puts a child on the same compact base as the adult M4 Nexa, with seating scaled to fit properly from the start. Seat widths begin at 30cm and adjust steplessly, so the chair grows with your child instead of being replaced every couple of years.

The 39cm seat-to-floor height brings them level with classmates at a table and makes transfers simpler for parents and carers. Full power positioning – tilt, recline, lift and elevating legrests – supports posture, pressure care and independence through a school day.

At 54cm wide with a 44.5cm turning radius it handles classrooms, corridors and family bathrooms, and the quieter drive means it doesn't announce itself in a quiet lesson.

The M4 Nexa Junior launches with the complete set of power seating functions:

- 150° recline
- 30.5cm seat lift
- Power elevating legrests with 85–175° range,
- articulating footplates.

The biomechanical seating system is designed to maintain a supported position. The seating system allows for easy and stepless adjustment of seat width, depth and armrest, accommodating changes in body size, posture, function, and lifestyle.

Every function is controlled from the CJSM joystick, so repositioning is quick and independent.

What age is the M4 Nexa Jr for?

It's sized by body dimensions, not age. With seat widths from 30cm it suits most children from around 5 or 6 upwards, and adjusts through to adult sizes.

Will it fit through school doors and into a WAV?

At 54cm wide, yes. It also fits most wheelchair-accessible vehicles and passenger lifts. We check the specific vehicle and school environment at assessment.

Can it be funded?

We work with families on private purchase, charity grants, Access to Education, and NHS wheelchair service voucher or personal budget schemes. We'll help with the paperwork.

How does it differ from the adult M4 Nexa?

Same base, same power functions, same colours. The Jr uses the smaller seat sizes and a lower seat-to-floor height, with positioning options suited to growing bodies.

What about alternative controls?

The Jr launches with the compact CJSM joystick. Omni2 and other alternative drive controls follow in later releases – ask us if your child needs them.

How do I get one?

Book a free assessment at our Cornwall, Milton Keynes or Liverpool centres, or a home visit across the South, Midlands and North UK. We'll fit and set the chair up for you, and provide a written quote. We support private purchase, charity funding, Access to Work and NHS wheelchair service voucher schemes.

How is it serviced?

Every major adjustment uses a 4mm or 5mm Allen key, and seat depth can be set with you in the chair. Our engineers service and repair Permobil chairs at both workshops and on the road.
