Key differences between the Permobil M Corpus VS and the Permobil F5 Corpus VS

Permobil have introduced the M Corpus VS - their Mid-Wheel-Drive standing powerchair.

You might be wondering what the differences are between the M Corpus VS, and the flagship global leader in power standing, the Front-Wheel-Drive F5 Corpus VS (Or, F5 VS). Here, we'll cover the key differences between the two power standing wheelchairs, to help you understand which one would work best for you.

  • Permobil M Corpus VS Mid-Wheel-Drive

    Mid-Wheel-Drive

The M Corpus VS is a Mid-Wheel-Drive (MWD) power base. It features 6 wheels in total; two drive wheels positioned directly underneath you, and four castors - one on each corner.

MWD chairs like the MVS offer a tighter turning radius, offering manoeuvrability in tight spaces.

Due to the drive-wheel position, driving the M Corpus VS is more intuitive; reducing the learning curve required when using a powerchair for the first time.

With castors being positioned at both the front and the rear, MWD chairs typically offer better stability when travelling up and down ramps, slopes or dropped kerbs.

  • Permobil F5 Corpus VS Front-Wheel-Drive

    Front-Wheel-Drive

The F5 Corpus VS is a Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) power base. It features 4 wheels in total; two drive wheels positioned towards the front, and two castor wheels positioned towards the rear. The F5VS also features two support wheels, which engage with the floor when the chair enters the stand position.

With the drive wheels positioned at the front, the F5 Corpus VS features superior drive performance; transitions over rough terrains are smoother.

The Agile suspension on the F5 VS offers enhanced ride comfort, superior vibration reduction, and drive performance in any position

With no front castors, accessing your environment is easier. The ability to tuck your legs further back allows for the F5 Corpus VS to get closer to surfaces.

Permobil M Corpus VS / MVS New Boa Fit Knee Support from Beyond Mobility

Swing-Away Knee Supports

Permobil have introduced a redesigned knee support that optimises independence. 75% lighter than the original single post knee supports, and optimised for a variety of hand functions.

Designed in partnership with Permobil's Seating & Positioning team, the independent knee support pads are fully adjustable using the BOA fit adjustment system allowing for a precisely tuned fit. Furthermore, they are swing-away, and can be easily 'parked' when not in use.

For users who prefer the traditional single-post knee support, the pads have been redesigned to optimise comfort.
